Next stop for SNAV OSG: Gothenburg

General News 30 July 2009 - Hannes Bohinc and Giancarlo Cangiano are prepared for choppy waters and tough racing as they finish testing and head to Gothenburg for rounds seven and eight of the Powerboat P1 World Championship, the inaugural Scandinavian Grand Prix of the Sea.

“It goes without saying that we’ll be going for the win, but so will several other teams so it will be an extremely competitive weekend,” explains Austrian Hannes Bohinc.

“We’re expecting heavy conditions that we haven’t encountered yet this year, but the boat’s performance, and that of Giancarlo and I, in rough seas is proven so we have every reason to be confident.

The duo, both former P1 World Champions, return to the cockpit together following a victorious SNAV OSG performance in Italy for team owner and throttleman, Cangiano, and fellow Italian and reserve pilot, Giovanni Carpitella, a much-needed win that positioned the team in second place behind Evolution Class leaders, Silverline.

The anticipated arduous weather conditions next weekend will ensue three flat water Grand Prix, two of which saw SNAV OSG at the top of podium.

“We have two new props and have made other refinements to improve the boat’s efficiency in choppy waters which we hope will give us the edge,” continues Bohinc.

“It is up to us to cut the points deficit between ourselves and Silverline, the aim is to return from Sweden at the top of the leaderboard.”

The P1 Scandinavian Grand Prix of the Sea will take place off the shores of Gothenburg over the weekend 07 – 09 August.
