Class S1 1993

Piloting the same monohull Offshorer Marine 38’ which had brought him so much success during 1992, Hannes Bohinc continued a rich vein of form to not only match but improve upon his debut powerboating season.

As well as a win at Moraira – Marina Smir, the Austrian – powered by Seatek engines – successfully defended his class title in the Venezia – Monte Carlo before adding the Giro de Mallorca trophy to his ever-increasing collection of accolades.

Then came one of the pinnacles of any powerboat racer’s career – a debut victory at the Cowes Torquay Cowes. The event is still one of the most renowned in world motorsport, comparable with the Indy 500 and 24 Hours of Le Mans.

On top of this win – which would not be the last for Bohinc off the English south coast – came another victory in the Aeolian Isles Trophy and crowning glory with success in the Martini Endurance Trophy.

1993 ranks as a defining year in the powerboating career of Hannes Bohinc as his exploits achieved worldwide recognition.
