Bohinc ready for the Swedish Grand Prix!

General News 06 July 2009 - Twice winner of the Harmsworth Trophy and one of only six racers in history to have won the coveted Cowes Torquay Cowes on more than one occasion, Hannes Bohinc, returns to world-class powerboating action in Gothenburg over the weekend of 8/9 August for the P1 Scandinavian Grand Prix.

The Austrian and his co-pilot Giancarlo Cangiano will look to take the Italian OSG Racing Team to the head of the World Championship having already won two of this season’s three Grand Prix events.

Currently, the two former World Champions - racing the 1500hp mercury-powered SNAV OSG - lie in second place, behind British team Silverline.

“In four of six races this season our boat has performed well and we are hoping for another strong showing in Gothenburg,” confirms Bohinc.

“The Swedish people can be assured of a very competitive and spectacular battle.”

Although the Championship calendar suggests six races remain, the final event in Bahrain has not yet been formalised

which means OSG and its main rivals for the World Championship cannot afford to rely on a sixth event and must make a decisive move in Swede.

“We know what needs to be done,” continues Bohinc, “and we are prepared, but endurance racing is demanding and unpredictable and good luck is as important as good preparation.

This will be a fantastic venue; we are all looking forward to enjoying Swedish hospitality, racing in Gothenburg and putting on a fast and exciting show.”
